GYP is currently working on several exploration projects along with its partners in 16 exploration licenses, which cover a total of 6,956 km2 surface area. Among these, License AR/GYP/4773 in Adana District was awarded to GYP on December 26, 2010. Licenses AR/GYP/4886, 4887 in Diyarbakir District was awarded on May 29, 2011. Licenses AR/GYP/4919 in District IX, and License AR/GYP/4888 were awarded on 8th and 23rd of August, 2011, respectively.
Licenses AR/MEL-GYP-SEC/4206, 4214, and 4217 were relinquished in August 2011.
These projects are carried out through initial compilation of all available geological & geophysical data and later interpretation & evaluation studies in regional and prospect scale which lead to a final assessment of the hydrocarbon potential of the license area. For this purpose, data are digitized by LYNX LEASSV & LEASMAP softwares, and SMT Kingdom Suite 8.2 version is used for 2D, 3D seismic evaluation, well correlation and well log interpretation.

3 of GYP’s exploration licenses are located in Thrace Basin, and 12 remain in SE Anatolia. 1 license is situated in Adana Region. Within these licenses, a total of 470.7 km 2D seismic, and 252 km2 3D seismic data were acquired in 2010, and processing plus interpretation works were completed in 2011.
Six (6) exploration wells (Altinakar-1, Kocahüyük-1, Sahabe-2, Çöpköy-3, SW Kanun-1, and Arpatepe-4) were drilled and completed in year 2011. In addition, two appraisal wells (Arpatepe-5 & 6) have been spudded during the last quarter of 2011.
