One of the most significant events in GYP’s history is the discovery of Arpatepe Field. This first and the only economic discovery of crude oil has been made in April 2008 from Arpatepe-1 well in Paleozoic age sandstones in the south-eastern part of Turkey near the province of Diyarbakir close to Bismil town. The well tested 470 barrels of light oil (40,9 API). The production of oil is carried out by natural lift. Recently, GYP has commenced oil production from the second well drilled in the same structure.
