The company has enormous experience operating oil fields with wide range of oil gravity, i.e. 11 to 40.9 API in different reservoirs (limestone, sandstone etc.). At present, GYP’s share of total oil production out of 8 fields is near 500 bbl/d.
GYP produces and transports the crude oil with its own transportation fleet and sells to TUPRAS Refinery Co. at Ceyhan Sea Terminal and Batman Refinery. GYP owns four production and auxiliary camps in Ankara, Adiyaman, Diyarbakir and Adana for storage, gathering, separating and blending the crude oil before delivery to TUPRAS.

Arpatepe Field
One of the most significant events in GYP’s history is the discovery of Arpatepe Field located in Diyarbakir area. On 21.04.2008 at the depth of 7945 ft (2422m) in Paleozoic sandstones, high-quality oil (API – 40.9) was discovered. Later two more appraisal wells were drilled, and as of December 2011, 258 bbl/d is being produced out of three wells.

Bulgurdag Field
The recent structural re-interpretation of Bulgurdag Field revealed that northern part of the structure remained untested. As a result, a new well (Bulgurdag-12) was drilled in March 2010, and a discovery was made in Karaisali and Aladağ limestones which produced 920 bbl/d of 38 API oil by natural lift until November 2010. As of December 2011, the well continues production at a rate of 145 bbl/day.
Later in 2010 and 2011 Bulgurdag-13 and Bulgurdag-14 production wells were drilled to the north and east of Bulgurdag-12, respectively. Bulgurdag-13 was put on production with 38 bbl/d net oil in November 2010, however, quickly declined to 10 bbl/d with 80% water cut. Bulgurdag-14 was put into production with 150 bbl/d without water, and current rate is 85 bbl/d.

Zeynel-Nemrut-Hasancık Fields
Zeynel-Nemrut-Hasancık Fields have been in production for 20 years and already 2,1 million barrels of 23 API gravity oil were produced. Having completed Z-22 production well and recompletion of Z-9 well, the daily production of the field is 150 bbl/d at present.

Altinakar Field
Upon the discovery of 14 API oil in Mardin Group in Altinakar-1 well in March 2011, a total of 576 bbl oil was produced by the end of 2011. As only 6 ft of Mardin Group was penetrated in the well, deepening of the well into Mardin Group and later into Bedinan Formation is planned.

Kahta Field
Kahta Field is one of the oldest fields in Turkey. It produces heavy oil (11-16 API) from 3000 ft depth in Upper Cretaceous limestones. The field already produced 4.8 million barrels of oil. Currently studies are being continued to increase production to 500 bbl/d in the first phase.
|
Karakilise Field
Karakilise Field was discovered in 2003, and a total of 43,590 bbl 28 API oil was produced by 2006. Karakilise-1 well as re-perforated in November 2010, and since then, the well has been producing an average of 30 bbl/d from the Mardin Group carbonates.
